Poem
He works on the pole, he works on the ground, in any storm he can be found. They call him a lineman; his work very dangerous. Bucket trucks and hot wires, that’s his love language. It’s 3 o’clock in the morning he’s been called back out. Back into the storm back into the drought. Leaving his family behind, wife constantly worrying. From the moment his phone rings, he’s always hurrying. From his employer you find little respect, just get the job done, go break your neck. A dangerous job, he works long nights, he works long and hard, so you can have lights. It’s hard to make plans on the weekend, because we never know when he’ll get called in. It’s hard on their body, definitely a young man’s job, time away from his family will this job constantly rob. So remember next time your lights are out, while you sit inside, while you sit there and pout. There’s a lineman busting his butt in this wet freezing storm, he’s working outside while you sit there all warm. Whether it takes a week or an hour, while you sit there without power; someone has to fix that line, so next time say thank you instead of whine. So thank you to all my lineman, I can’t thank you enough. Thanks for your long hard hours, thanks for being so tough. I pray for you lineman, each one of you, I pray a hedge of protection and that He sees you through.
