Today you released all your heartache and pain,
I never heard you cry like today,
I couldn't stop you, I had to let you cry,
I sat in silence by your side,
What affected us from years ago,
The guilt you couldn't let go,
Maybe if I was there he wouldn't have died,
He wouldn't have committed suicide,
Played over and over for so many years,
Your mind believes what you're ears can't hear,
What you refuse to hear, when you're told it's not your fault,
But you keep saying if I had just been there in time it wouldn't have happened at all,
And the guilt sits inside you and festers and grows,
Until you see yourself trying to save everyone you know,
I didn't do enough the first time, the time that mattered most,
I will go the extra mile to help anyone I know,
I will stick to them like glue, with constant love and reassurance,
I have pushed myself in the worst of circumstances, and know God gives me the strength to do it,
I would rather feel the pain then lose you to death,
And I will give above and beyond because I have been through that,
And today you have made me see my heart and the strength of love God has given to me,
That made me over the years love even deeper than I could ever see.
