I promise to give you love, like your mother's sweet embrace
To be there when you're lost, in this bewildering space
Whenever vexed you feel, just a call away I'll be
Day by day, I'll stay, paving paths for you to see
May you see the good in me, as our hair turns grey

But why would you love me, knowing you'd hurt me so?
Love feels like a myth, hurt seems all we know
Fooled and deceived, vital truths concealed
Is this what you call love, or a battlefield?

I still recall that night, when you touched me in fear
Traumatized by your actions, disrespect was the spear
Every voice should be heard, no one should feel small
Yet I'm made to feel inferior, as you stand tall

But why would you love me, knowing you'd hurt me so?
I made a promise to myself, when Dad passed away?
To choose solitude over love, to keep hurt at bay
No one knows what love is, not you, not me
My heart's a fragile glass, shattered, can't you see?

How can I love when I'm broken, a fool in disguise?
So don't come near me, saying you see good in my eyes
I only see the bad, my heart's slowing its beat
Day by day, I pray, to find strength, to defeat

But it feels like I'm nearing my grave, to rest by my dad's side
Sorry, Mom, I'm leaving too soon, angels calling, no need to hide
It's time to find true love, beyond this earthly pain
To heal, to mend, to find peace, and love again
Nowadays loving can be very scary.
