Poem
Macavity, oh Macavity, he's a master thief He's no cat, he's a cotton bag, he jumps off a cliff Macavity, oh Macavity, he's a cat of depravity He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity You may see him all the time, Macavity's everywhere But when you reach the scene of the crime, he's not there! Macavity, oh Macavity, where could he be? He's not in here, he's not in there, where could he be? A glint in shadows, a whisper in the air, He plans his next caper, with nary a care. Is he a phantom, a figment of the night? Or a real, furry fiend, bathed in pale moonlight? Perhaps he's sipping tea, with a stolen spoon, Planning his next heist, beneath the silvery moon. Macavity, oh Macavity, where could he be? He moves like a shadow, unseen and unheard, A whisper of mischief, a feathered, dark bird. The police are baffled, they search high and low, But Macavity's vanished, putting on a show. With eyes like emeralds, and fur like the night, He slips through the city, in a shadowy light. He's a whisper of wind, a shadow's embrace, Like smoke through a keyhole, he leaves not a trace, He's a riddle wrapped in a mystery's guise, A flash of green eyes and a swift n' sly surprise. He paints mustaches on portraits so grand, He swaps the sugar for grains of sand, He ties shoelaces of judges in knots, He fills the police station with coconuts. He walks on the rooftops, beneath the moon's gleam, A master of darkness, a living dream, He leaves behind only a faint scent of crime, A legend whispered, throughout space and time. He steals all the socks, leaving pairs mismatched, He replaces the milk with a custard batch, He hides all the keys, just to watch people fret, He's the purrfectly naughty, four-legged threat. He's a phantom, a whisper, a fleeting shadow's trace, He bends the rules of physics, he defies time and space, He's a legend, a myth, a figment of fear, He's nowhere and everywhere, always so near. They whisper his name in awe and dread, The papers all scream, "Macavity's fled!" He's the city's enigma, its greatest despair, But secretly, they love him, the rogue with the flair. He's a whisper of mischief, a glint in the night, He's the city's bad dream, bathed in pale moonlight, He's a master of disguise, a cunning, sly fox, He leaves behind only riddles and padlocks. © 2025 Gemini-Krish.
