Poem
Dear God – when You see me making a mistake, Reliving my past or forsaking Your grace, Let me know the trouble that I’ll embrace If I don’t come to You and repent for the wrongdoing Dear God – when You reveal the ways that I’ve sinned Remind me to admit the failures and find peace within, When I have a lapse in judgement and fail to give You praise Oh, God, please know that I love You – forever and always Dear God – when You see me forgetting the light You shine, Doubting the hope that brings me love divine Help me to consider the ways that You’ve healed my pain And granted me a reason to believe despite my uncertainty Dear God – when You allow me to learn from my blunders Letting go of the beautiful while I hold to the disagreeable Hear my prayers, spoken through the most violent moans Remember I’m seeking You to wipe away the tears I’ve wept Dear God – when You write my heart a letter of compassion Help me to see beyond the darkness of my past’s rejection Show me the wonder of Your spirit – Your love and guidance So that wherever I go, I need only reach out to You, my solution Dear God – when You silence the fears that can bring me down Breathe Your kindness through my soul so that I see Your blessings Falling all around me, blessings of light and love and acceptance Blessings that remind me, wherever I go, You are always there beside me Dear God – when You meet me after I’ve left this world through death Know that, whatever has happened, I believe that You understand And, despite the pain and tears, the darkest fears and endless grief, I know that this love You give is a love that is stronger than any angst Dear God – when I forget to look at You with the adoration I feel, I hope that You will see beyond my lack of praise, to the love so real, Love that comes from knowing You have changed my heart and soul You’re the reason I look at sorrow with a heart whose been made whole.
