I succumbed to desire and fell to fear
but on choosing pathways loving and kind,
light of God in heart began to appear
and truth of my true essence became clear,
which made in God’s image, is living light,
gripping us in rapture of bliss delight.”

Before I knew…
The plenty of His grace,
Falling like heavenly flakes
Rich as the blessings He gave –
There was a wonderful, the good news
Where He is – there is a beauty, a truth,
Beyond our poetry, beyond our dreams
Filled with the melodies of joy and faith

Before I knew...
The song that never fades,
The lessons from generosity,
The gasp of His gentle expressions
Love that never ends, never doubts,
Never forgets what it is to bring hearts
Through the noise of a past who is colored
In shadows, a past where there is only doubt
A desperation that needs the forgiveness
Only Jesus is capable of offering,
Only Jesus knows – He truly knows me

Before I knew…
His light, reflected in my heart
Where He kindled a desire of forever
A desire for the love that is the symbol
Of One who has come to earth to remind
Each of us – He has the power to bring to us,
A beauty that will never stop breathing its peace
A silence that only the spirit can truly see
A wonder that is beyond any revelation we’ve met
This is the love that satisfies the inmost yearning,
Blesses away the fears who keep burning
Quiets those tears who’ve been flowing.

Before I knew…
The music of a soul
Who knows Him as light,
Who sees Him, even at night,
Who feels Him in the silence,
Who is filled with Him, His gentling
The truth who has come to be…
The love that lives inside of me,
The love that will ever be…
The best part of this heart who believes,
The only part of this soul who can see…
The wonder of a love that is beyond revelation…

Before I knew…
What it means to be free,
Freed by the love that is living in me,
I remember the doubt, the darkness, the dread
Who silenced my voice – such fear in my head –
Before I knew the One who blessed me with grace,
There was no reason to hold onto the hope
Hope that He gave me, poured over my soul
So I will always know that He’s with me,
Despite the worst that comes, He sings gentleness,
Filling me with light who abides throughout life,
A light of love that is only shown by God above…

Before I knew Him…
There was only me.
Now that I see the light,
I sing, I praise, I abide
In the fire that is my guide,
The fire that dances inside
Is a fire He started when I realized…
He is the love that came when I cried
He is the One who filled me with light
He is the love that will make it all right
He is the reason I will never stop trying
He is the answer to all my soul’s yearning
He is God – He is love and He’s the light
Who keeps dancing as my heart trusts His pen to write
My poem – in this story He designed,
This story of love that never ends – 
As all the pride that once was fades into the past,
	Where it becomes a memory of what cannot last
When true love, Jesus Christ – saves the soul who believes
He is the One who came to protect us from ourselves,
	To keep us from the darkest hell.
To restore us to a relationship where light never wanes,
	Where love will never fail…

Where the grace of God stirs hope inside the soul,
Where the love of God silences the darkest night,
Where the peace of God reveals the joy of hope,
Where the light of God shines so I can find my way home.
