Poem
When I was 10 years old, a new neighbor moved in next door. This man's name was Scott, and his wife was Kay. Scott was an old looking man whose body had been broken over years of work. He was about 55, with barely any hair left. As the years went on, and I got older I started taking more interest in the things that Scott had to offer. Scott lives right next door to me, but had another house at Mark Twain, one he was planning on retiring into. Scott had told me before he would love for me to come up to the house but I was a little unsure he was serious as we weren't super close. The first time I went up there, there was a freezing rain storm. Scott made sure I got up there safely and sat out in the freezing rain with me and taught me new ways to fish. At 13 I hadn't started hunting yet, but I was pushing Scott to take me out and sit in a stand with me. Scott helped me and my dad draw into a managed hunt, where I shot my first deer, and often still will go and sit in a stand with me. I have rarely ever seen scott mad about anything. Bad day of hunting? Well try a new spot tomorrow. Too cold to fish? Go sit in front of the fire and wait for it to warm up. Scott always has a way to put a smile on your face whenever you need it. It seems everytime I see Scott he's got something new to show me, he is probably one of the smartest people I know. When I was 15, he showed me an old boat that didn't run, and had been passed around between friends for the last couple of years. Scott had originally given this boat to a friend, who got it licensed in illinois. This friend had been diagnosed with severe medical problems. The boat was then gifted to another friend who couldn't retrieve the title properly. The boat was given back to scott, and hasn't been started in over 8 years. After some time the boat was given to me. Me and Scott spent a year and a half getting all the scrap information and data we could from the boat. Scott bought me almost everything I needed for this boat, the registration to the numbers on the hull. Scott had tried to find a new owner for this boat for the last 8 years, just someone that would actually use the boat and take care of it. This is not nearly enough of an example to show the kindness in scotts heart. In the last 8 years I've known Scott, he has never shown me anything but friendship. And if I wasn't so close with my father then scott would be the man I called dad.
