unknown like undress
     into a once was state
tangle 
 ~ to become 
       ~    risk unbecoming...

lightning bolt struck skull
   constricted round to oval
 then forgotten 
   - of course

all this air
    only breathe in a fraction
so busy
   trying to discern through smoke and haze

       tell me
are we part of the picture
 .  .   .     .   the page beneath 
... molecules of the paper
    
  we may be nothing
    until a thought transpires -     
 inception ~ to be realised 
        or crushed
    - smoothed out again

     do we remain
         are we never was
paintings made inexplicably 
     before the death of the artist

           placed in this world
    viewers or viewed

    to no end whatsoever 
 within a non existence 

     or do we pass our little sparks around
                keep each other alight
        as we burn out to an almost stop
     when a shared ember re-ignites 
       this chain of succession 
   of disappearing ash

forgive me if I'm wrong
    so insistent on searing the surface 
        of what should remain undisturbed 
  folly, on my behalf, I'm sure

        there we are
or not
 every layer
      reveals another layer
  we pick at
 until we're inevitably 
                 in a hole
