Poem
While I was trying to forge a better me I got lost in the process And sank down past the fiery pits of my own personal hell I created it for myself But I refused to believe that so called myth I awoke from my nightmare only to find it was my new found reality Nothing that travels through a process makes it out perfect But my flaws were written all over my face And seen in my eyes And reeked through the scents under which I tried to hide As I attempted to shy away from the Darkness It kept calling me closer Weak as I was to Its temptation I sank deeper on the path to my internal damnation Others couldn't comprehend my desire for Its pain Through Its pain I hid my tears Refusing to divulge in wanting ears As the pain took me over My eyes still sunken lowered I'm at the mercy of the Darkness And no pity does It have for me nor my loss of self worth I'm worthless in this state So I can't afford the price of escape Damned to my hell Further engulfed by my reality driven nightmare As my body took the pain of the Darkness to my shrunken frame Too weak with regret Still digesting the poison of my debt As I assumed my tears were all dried up And the love had left my soul A light flickered in the corner of my eye Bright enough as if it were sunlight I fought my way through regret And forced myself to do battle with pain I waged a war with the Darkness Hoping that myself I would eventually gain Although my body was weak and forlorn My soul divided and war torn I weakly lay claim to victory The Darkness escaping from me With Its defeat within my grasp My strength returning at last I murdered that which once claimed possession of all that I embody No longer will I let my pain consume me And drive me to the Darkness There's forever a light shining through To give me the strength To stay to myself And to myself Forever be true
