Poem

I was travelling once I witnessed the green
the most beautiful thing i had ever seen
in this bubble within this country.

in this bubble within this country
where the sky is painted blue
and the roads are covered in roses
I pretend that i am floating in the galaxy
alone in space
with no aversion or affection for my surrounding state
and this country

In this bubble within this country
I eat with arms that aren't mine
drink from the finest of wine
I couldn't care less about what you heard on the news
or your biased political views
In this bubble i am second only to God
and the diamond here is my blood

occasionally i peek
through the cracks in the seams
they rip through this bubble like butter
and through them i witness
someones brother kill their mother
a family grown to suffer
a country where the only time its people win
is when they're hurting each other

I see all of this, sometimes, from this bubble
then i give my prayers and cover up my troubles
and continue to act, in this bubble, befuddled
like this bubble doesn't exist in this country
and i'm merely floating alone in the galaxy

Sometimes i pick at these covered up problems like scabs on a wound
playing with them like dolls in my mind in this bubble of a room
and when, as it always happens, they seem so complex to me 
i contemplate asking the green,ever beautiful in this bubble, for clarity 
but i am afraid, as all men are, that they would reject audaciously
for hatred of my kind.
