Alone, sometimes – with no one to confide in,
No one to depend on, no one willing to share my heart,
No one willing to share the sorrows, the hurt,
No one who understands how very sad I’ve been…
Oh, how sad I’ve been… can someone simply comprehend?

Grief stricken, coming apart at the seams, 
Lost among the worst sinners, the worst reprobates,
Wondering where, exactly, is my life’s fate,
Where will my spirit discover the reason for its tears,
The reason for all the fears, all the years of shame and disgrace…
Oh, how shameful it is… to be without even one true friend?

Despairing, longing for a hand to hold onto,
Desperate for kindness, for comfort, for a light who shines,
Among the darkest shadows, where the night screams,
Remembering how it feels to be so weak,
How it feels to lose all of my strength, to cry tears
Because, as I sing through the grief, I’m sinking and clinging…
Oh, drowning in the doubts, the anguish, the heartache.

I feel… lost for the words
Who might explain what it means to be unheard,
Words who might describe how it feels inside,
Words who could express how discouraging this is,
Words who can make clear… the darkest of fears…
Oh, how I grieve because I can’t seem to see the forest for the trees,
The way my heart aches – oh, silence these tears.

I feel.. lost, but you see…
I am never lost, when my spirit believes
It is Him, the only One who can bring any real peace,
It is Him, the only One who can take away the desperation,
It is Him, the only One who knows the way through the sorrow,
It is Him, the only One who lets me see, despite my resistance,
He is love. He is light. He is the One who helps me to fight…
Away the fears, the tears, the shadows that haunt my heart,
The feelings that let me know… Even though He saved my soul…
Through the forest, through the dark – wonders of love,
Love that I’ve often sought – love that will never let me doubt,
He is here and He’ll never leave me without – a friend, someone
Who knows how to share, the melody of a gift that is forever alive,
The song that remembers, through it all, God is love,
And His love will abide…

Through the darkness, through the tears, through the silence
Throughout all the years… He is the song that plays in the heart
Who believes and agrees, Jesus is the reason I’m at peace,
Even when I grieve,… through every fear or need, I can see
What I feel – that is not real… it is Jesus, who completes me,
He is the reason for every light that blesses me with assurance,
Promising my soul, that wherever I go… He is there in my soul,
He’s the love that is in control, even when I don’t know….
Oh, dear Lord,… how Your love flows, how Your light glows,
How amazing it is to feel You, deep inside, so my spirit knows…
You are the reason I can praise despite the grief.
You are the reason I can pray despite the darkness.
You are the reason I can believe despite the doubts.
You are the reason I can say – I feel like I have a friend who will last.

I feel like I have a friend through the worst – a blessing throughout, a light through the night, a love that passes every test, a love that grows stronger through the struggles, a love that grows kinder despite the battles!

I feel… a love so real, 
The love of God is sincere.
The love of God will always fulfill!

I feel… like His love will kill
Every demon who taunts my soul,
Every doubt that haunts my hope,
Every darkness that silences my light,
Every despair who brings me to tears.
I feel… like His love will tell
Every part of my life to be stirred by this love,
So sincere, this love… His breath on my spirit,
This love, His gentle on my broken,
This love, it is a feeling like no other!
