The clumps of climbing cotton clouds 
float slowly away, brushing the azure arena 
of the end-summer’s ashen sky. 
The returning birds bathe 
in the glimmer of the blue bay, 
as through the amber twilight gleam 
they all fly to the auburn nests,
while September ushers the aura of autumn 
with chromatic kaleidoscope of splendor.
 
In the lucent edge of the sunburst sky, 
the halcyon horizon splits the sunbeam spray
into the spectrum of radiant rays, 
the sparkle of hues spilling from its palette 
colors the canvas of the dainty dawn. 
Bowed down slender blades 
of fawn grass rise and sway in the crisp air
on the cradle of the mellow meadow.  

The pasture wears the crafted crown 
of topaz dew, flickering with pearly flair 
of the shining dawn’s chalcedony glow. 
Lining the sun-splashed cinnabar garden path,  
the dry trunks of the sepia trees 
stand on the sienna soil turning fallow, 
hear in the rustle of the golden leaves 
the autumn’s footfall, striding slow. 

As the scarlet sunset sets fire 
in the fading satin sky, making a surreal collage 
of vermillion ember, glowing  bright, 
under its crimson radiance 
I wait with the spirit soaring high
to greet the sapphire stars, 
sprouting in the pellucid autumn night.
Swathed by the argentine moon dust of delight,
I long to be suffused with September rhapsody.
