Poem
The deepest dark Like an unaware monster it sits within It hungers for you and all Unsure of its’ meaning Yet it already feels diminishing If you let it crawl around inside You will will only find its’ call Metastasizing inside your mind and soul Its’ stench is foul That of a musk you cannot describe Driving you to become the creature it intends Become what you must, they say You must do what it takes, they say Defeat your demons from outside to within Hold in captive It held you like the prisoner of war It will retreat back into the shadow For that is where it knows best It lies in secret, growing its’ nest It has no name yet for you haven’t given it one It knows your name It knows your name Let it grow and fester into the beast you need it to be When it is done It will feed on the light you hold dear It will suck out your will and replace it with fear You can only sense what is doing Then one moment A split second is all it takes For it to rise up and out of the deepest abyss You should now know its’ name It is you A shell of who you once were Taking and feeding on the life of others Planting its’ seeds within Do not succumb to its’ tempt, they say These are testing times, they say It cannot control you, they say Yet all you know is to bend to its’ will To its’ strength To its’ tenacity To its’ ferocity, It knows your name Just as much as you know it is only you A remanence from your past A ghost of your future self You know its’ name Defeat it from outside to within Defeat its’ concerning words Defeat its’ conquering breath Stimulate its’ flame Let it grow and multiply For it needs to grow inside you A bear sleeping inside the chasm of your mind and soul Listen and beg for the strength Listen and beg to overcome Its’ name You must climb those mountains Reach into the crevasse of yourself Where it lies in wait Hungry for your own self Who you once were can win But it is who you were once It is your, deepest dark.
