Poem

the thicket had an orange glow this morning
I wondered if a hunter was standing there
my dog and I approached but the dog ran off
chasing rabbits, most probably
I am glad to say he has never caught one

the glow was a vibrating portal
it drew me in like a mosquito to a human ear
I could not stop myself; I dove through it
found myself in another dimension

“she came!” someone said.
There was cheering.
They had a parade for me.
I was their honored guest.

Some of them put me on their shoulders.
They showed me off and marched me through the streets.
The bricks were triangle-shaped, and glistening gold.
houses were made from autumn trees.

The entire place was full of September colors.
Golds, reds, oranges, a few pops of browns.
Fruits and vegetables lined the streets.
They too were in harvest shades.

Where was this place? Did it have a name?
I never knew, and I never found it again.
But I felt beloved and joyful here,
and I always wanted to come back.
