The primary problem that I find with debates is that very little if anything changes.
Our convictions and beliefs, and the pe o ple that believe in us also remain the same.

Indeed, it was a mild form of debate.
He was aghast at my choice of candidates.
He sincerely questioned my politics
and was very disturbed by my political pics.
He wanted to know what, why, and how,
and there was a tone in his voice with a
resounding 'Wow'. He believed one way
and I, another. Moreover, to him, I was
like an older brother who'd gone astray.
In a way, he felt that my head was buried
in the sand, and he could not understand.
Furthermore, he believed that I'd been brainwashed.
Upon hearing that from him, my heart was dashed.
Although our worlds were very similar at the start,
time and space had now rendered us worlds apart.
So, there it was; a debate without an audience.
Politically, we continue to remain at a distance.
We continue to navigate our lives in different lanes.
But no one lost; no one won; no one changed.  I tell you.  That' s one of the problems with debates.  No one seems to gain, and they do not take away the pain.
