Growing up in Chicago I always knew 
I would save lives from drugs and gun 
violence I just didn't know how perhaps 
it started at 13 I got off the elevator on 
my way to school there is was notorious 
booney black holding a 44 magnum to my 
friends heads I heard the rumors tales 
he was like candyman no one ever lived 
once you looked into his eyes seagreen 
instantly I forgot my age I forgot I was a 
timid shy girl I pointed my finger and said 
yall always trying to shoot somebody I 
thought I was dead in that moment I was 
so tired of being scared hearing gun shots 
seeing so many people killed in Chicago 
I waited expecting to be shot when he 
picked up my books and said girl gone 
to school ain't nobody going to shoot 
nobody today to my surprise there 
was no gun shots nobody died that day 
the next day was a different story I lived 
in total fear perhaps that's why when the 
fbi told me my abusive ex husband committed

needed I felt obligated to help save lives
