Poem
When Gabriella was 5 there was a terrifying storm. She woke up and screamed as loud as she could. No-one answered so she ran into her parent’s bedroom. Her Mother and Father were hiding under the bed. Gabriella crawled under the bed with them. All night the lightening crashed and seemed to be very close to their house. Some thing strange happened to Gabriella that night. She looked at her Parents who were still terrified and smiled. She then crawled out from the bed and went to her own room. Her Mother told her to come back but she didn’t listen. Little Gabriella stood next to her bedroom window and watched the storm. She could see the Lightening striking in the distance. Although she was a little scared she couldn’t run. She was mesmerised by the Rain the Storm and the Lightening. She was even a little sad when the Sun came out and the Storm was over. To get through the night she sang a little song to help. “I have my hands in my pockets, right to the End, I love the Lightening like a brother and a friend. Oh I love the Lightening like a brother and a friend.” For Gabriella Time danced by like a ballerina. Before she knew it she was 18 and in love. She meet Simon at College and went everywhere with him. They used to finish each other’s sentences and laugh. One night Simon was driving Gabriella home and there was a terrible storm. A kangaroo startled by the lightening jumped in front of the car. Simon swerved to miss the Kangaroo and went into a ditch. It was raining heavily and both of them were unconscious. Gabriella opened her eyes and saw Lightening crashing around her. She tried to wake Simon but couldn’t. She could see that his head was bleeding. Gabriella climbed out of the car and walked slowly threw the storm. It was dark and frightening but she decided to sing, “I have my hands in my pockets, right to the End, I love the Lightening like a brother and a friend. Oh I love the Lightening.... Before she could finish singing a car pulled over and the driver offered her a lift. In hospital Simon thanked Gabriella for saving him. He told her how brave he thought she was. She said you’ll be fine if you face the Storm with a song.
