Poem
A garden of love and hope, woven with silk and ethereal threads Handcrafted by the creator, with unmatched skills and snowy beards The Divine, seated on high, with golden hairs aglow, The garden of wonder, where joy and dreams grow. The garden of ancient magic, where snakes walk and lions sing Cast atop the daunting darkness, splashed with the joy the lights bring Where the angels have their daily walk and laugh aloud Shadows dance with wonder, the Divine sitting proud In the middle of the garden, trees are made to grow Each with its own perspective, walk about in tow Tree of knowledge is grown, exceeding strong and proud Knowing what is good and bad, placed away from the crowd The tree of Life was placed beside, a shade of black and white Complete with stripes that bears to mind, a war with dark and light The white a symbol for Life, a time of joy and birth And dark a symbol for the grave, though which you bury death In the garden's core, the Divine shaped a form divine, From Earth's dark soil, where mystic souls entwine The being limp, but with a sudden, startled might, It rose alive, with breath of life inside. The Divine laughed , a rumble deep from within That rocked the earth and brought the hills upon its knees A being, made like him, to inherit the earth To live and work, a caretaker, a ruler over death. The being worked, sun-scorched days and endless nights No rest, no respite, no end in sight. The earth thrives under his care, yet he felt alone Until the Divine saw his need, and a companion was sewn. The being was put to sleep, and a part of him they took Crafted to be like him, but variations in looks The being's eyes met hers and attraction began to grow Together they stood, two halves of a single whole. Hand in hand, they ran across the garden's lush ground Skipping along, laughters and joy without a sound Night and day, they tended the earth, a most harmonious pair In their eyes, they found a love beyond compare. The Divine looked and smiled, the end of creation He came down to talk, giving them his attention All of good and well to eat, the fruits the trees will bear Except the trees of knowledge and Life, of which don't dare. But alas, the devil stirred, a desire to explore Bringing them down to the tree of knowledge, a forbidden allure The choice was made, to eat the fruit, their fates now sealed The deed was done, the tree was gone, and punishments revealed For the devil, he was cast below, a creature of the dark His hallowed spot, his precious place, he lacked The snake he turned was cursed along with him To slither on his belly, and spit the hatred within For the being, for listening to the serpent, Was cursed alongside him, to all present He was made to toil in vain, eating in sweat and blood And chased by death for life, he was made a lord no more. And the woman, the Divine decreed Would bring forth life in pain and need Her body worn, her spirit tried Her life force drained, with each infant's cry. With Eden's gates closed, with sentries placed each side A paradise lost forever, mankind farewell bide Man at war with beast, fruits and thorns in hand Brings a remembrance of the garden, a mystic land.
