Poem
Humility Sighs, softly, sorrowful Mourning, the tears Reflecting the heart who knows, Sin has a lingering dread, Deafening, darker than doubt, Distant as the despair Felt by the one who offends Our only hope, the God who forgives Even those sins we might consider Unforgiveable, reprehensible, Intolerable, even willful. Humility Whispers gently, weeping silently Unconsolable, desolate Tears who speak of what is known As the sin who has lost hope, Sinful words, sinful hearts, sinfulness In distant pain, torment, trouble Driving confidence insane, Discouraging, ominous, with nought to gain Solemn words, grave thoughts Known by those who truly believe It is only God’s Son who is capable of forgiving All those depravities, iniquities, evils Brought to light by souls who can see Even the least sin is one that needs repentance. Humility Silences the deafening doubts, The loss of hope, the loss of faith. Remembering the joy Abiding in those who know Him The only One who can console Those who are filled with shame, regret, All the contrition that bleeds through The life of those who comprehend Grace that comes to those who repent, Those who know Him as Redeemer, Those who believe He will forgive, Those who see Him as Savior and King, Those who love Him … Because He’s worthy… He is so worthy Humility never fails to reveal The love that abides in the life, Who repents of every sin, Especially vanity – pride, the opposite Of the humbleness that makes atonement Possible and probable, Because of grace He gave to those Who simply believe He is who He says He is And His love is big enough to last eternally! He is worthy and I am free from all sin, Because He saved me and gave me His spirit, Who comforts and leads me, teaches me Whatever comes, I know the wonder of HIS LOVE And, that is more than enough… He is worthy of all my praise He is worth more to me each day!
