Poem
I cannot die tonight I dog-eared a book Of pages I haven't perused You know how long that took? Scent of pages Frayed and yellowed Always get me Calm and mellowed The spine cracked and worn Each page a promise, a tale untold In the quiet corners of my mind Their adventures unfold. For in these fleeting moments Between the pages and the pulse Find a sanctuary, a refuge Where imagination takes its course. Each chapter a journey A world waiting to be explored, I hold onto the promise, Of stories yet to be adored. So I cling to these words precariously With a heart both heavy and light For amidst the chaos and the fight I cannot go gently I cannot die tonight. I cannot die tonight Coz who’s going to remind you Of every Beatles song? Trippy and hippie My hair, a tapestry of sunset hues The glimmer of the blues Plus my lipstick’s too pretty “Forbidden Love” in matte By Pat McGrath It gives me a nice pout That send you in a frenzy Where life hangs by a fragile thread A shade so red. It gives me a fierce pout, A bold statement, of subtle defiance, As I navigate through life's testament A moment of personal reliance. , I find strength in its vibrant hue, A reminder of my own humanity, Amidst the things I must do. I cannot die tonight. "There is leftover Ben and Jerry’s, Pistachio, my sweet delight, It would be frostbitten, forgotten, Without me to savor its creamy bite. In the quiet of the midnight hour, Amidst the chaos I must attend. A spoonful of comfort, a moment’s respite, With each creamy scoop, worries mend. For even in life's simple pleasure, A taste of normalcy amidst the storm, A reminder of life’s delicate measure. So, I'll cherish this fleeting indulgence, A treat both humble and grand, For even heroes need their moments, To pause, to savor, to understand. I cannot die tonight I cannot , I am too busy Scrolling on Etsy Whatever calls my fancy I will not have time To stop, breathing Too entranced Amidst the handmade treasures, And vintage finds are so rare, I lose myself in colors, And textures beyond compare. Each click a discovery, A world of creativity unfolds, In the tapestry of crafted dreams, My spirit joyfully roams. For in these digital wanderings, A spark ignites, a passion grow ,As I weave through pages endless, In search of beauty that glows. So, I linger a little longer, In this realm of infinite possibility, For amidst the rush and clamor These moments are my serenity. I cannot die today I already planned my party At the Acre Who’s going to blow the candles? Half-eaten Carvel cake Half-baked excuses Dancing under moonlit trees Air thick blowing vapor kisses Laughter echoing in the breeze Living each moment like these Savoring every taste like the last Unraveling stories from the past I cannot die tonight I cannot die today There are lives I have to save Patients I have to see But I can’t save me I cannot die today, "I cannot die today, There are lives I have to save, Patients I have to see, But I can’t save me! I cannot die today, In the quiet moments between heartbeats, In the whispered prayers before every scene I cling to hope, a lifeline unseen, For those who rely on me, I must endure. The weight of their trust is down to my little finger Against the shadows that linger in doubt, With every breath, I fight to be stronger, o keep the promise, to never bow out. So, I stand resolute, amidst the fray, With hands steady, though my own heart may sway, For their lives fuel the fire, burning bright, I cannot falter, I cannot die tonight. In the silent hours of the night, When the weight of the world feels too much to bear, I find solace in the steady rhythm of their breath, In the hope that tomorrow holds repair. Each diagnosis a puzzle to unravel, Every treatment a battle to be won, Yet beneath the white coat and stethoscope, I'm just human, chasing the rising sun. For every life I touch, a bond is forged, In the shared moments of pain and relief, Their stories etched in my soul, unwavering, A testament to resilience beyond belief. So, I press on through the uncertainty, With unwavering resolve and courage untold, For theirs are the candles I must ignite, heir futures intertwined with mine, bold and bright. I can’t die tonight.
