Poem

Death has drained my life of joy;
my heart is an empty husk.
I cannot muster a single smile
from the many I've stored in memory;
to come to my aid in my time of grief.
An emptiness has replaced the love I've lost
there is no describing my pain,
words fail to capture how I am feeling.
A part of me is suddenly missing,
and it can never be replaced.

You were the foundation that supported me in life
my love, my friend, my reason for living.
You invited me to lean on you
and never bent or complained of the added weight.
There will never be another you,
you were unique! An angel in mortal guise!
A gentler soul never tread this Earth;
I was fortunate to have loved you
and been loved by you;
Death can never take that feeling from me.

Time cannot keep us apart for long,
I will be joining you soon; 
I know you'll be waiting for me on the other side.
We are soulmates; our love is indelible!
Death is but an inconvenience
to eternal souls tethered to each other
by the ethereal bonds of love.
