In Isaiah 6:8, the LORD God asks the Old Testament prophet, Isaiah two related
questions: "Whom shall I send and Who will go for us?  And Isaiah replies,"Here
I am. Send me!"

The birth of Samuel 1:1-7  (part one)

There was a certain man from Ramathaim, a Zuphite, whose name was Elkanah,
son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephamite.  He had two wives; one was called
Hannah and the other Peninnah.  Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.

Year after year this man went up from his own town to worship and to sacrifice to
the LORD Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehah, the two sons of Eli,
were priests of the LORD.  Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he
would give portions of the meat to his wife Phinehah and to all of his sons and
daughters. But to Hannah, he gave a double portion because he loved her and
the LORD had closed her womb.  And because the LORD had closed her womb,
her rival kept provoking her in order to irradiate.  This went on year after year. 
Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her
until she wept and would not eat.

God also said to Moses,"Say to the Israelists, 'The LORD, the God of your 
fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, the God of Jacob--has sent
me to you.'  This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remem
bered from generation to generation.  Go, assemble the elders of Israel and
say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the
God of Issac and Jacob--appeared to me and said:  I have watched over you
and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.  And I have promised to
bring you up out of the misery in Egypt into the land of the Caananites, Hittites,
Amorites, Perizzites, Hivities, and Jebusites--a land flowing with milk and honey.
