need me …

for I feel … good …
truly down-to-the-core good
I always do
and that’s why you want me
I know you want me
you can feel me stirring … deep
ever since THEN
when you watched it -
there was an old man, sprite
strolling the city, wide
he walked past a young homeless girl
who had bare feet
(on a cold day)
seemingly unaware of her
until …
he turned around
went back
spoke to her a moment
then gave her his tennis shoes
(not the bargain kind)
took the shoes right off his own feet
and put them down to hers …
nothing more was said
it didn’t need to be
she couldn’t thank him for sake of the tears
she was holding back
but that was enough for him
and YOU -
you saw it all …
it made you warm
it made you … crave for more
it made you want ME
almost as much as you’ve ever wanted
anything in your life
and though this startled you a bit,
the need for me grew
and grew …
and is still growing
that’s a good thing … a very good thing
cuz I feel good
I ALWAYS feel so very, very good
and I wanted you to want me
now …
you’ll strive for me
I’ll be the new drug in your veins
the new high in your life
the new cat in your pajamas,
dazzle in your eye,
and swizzle stick in your drink
the desire for me will grow so intense that
you’ll do something -
something for someone else that
makes you feel that warm
that high-ness
that GOOD …
and someone like you will watch
and wonder
why they feel so aglow …
and they … will want me, too
for I am contagious
infectious
and completely impartible 
and my name is …

kindness.
