Poem

I used to live a life with out drugs and crime 
Now I’m sitting in a jail cell doing my time

You look at me and all you see is a thug
Yeah, I’m doing time and I look like a dirty rug

I miss the outside world and my family 
Yeah, my mind is stupid, because I have “Thug Mentality”
I wish I chose the right path, and fleed 
To begin a new life called I’ll succeed 

People told me the thug world wasn’t real 
I ain’t listen because I ran the streets and made the deal 
When I could have been in church ready for gods heal

But I believed once I start its hard to quit

Now Imma get out of here and start a new life 
Wait! That’s what they all say  
But I’m for real 
Why?

My moms is home thinking about me 
Knowing she raised me better than my ways be
I know she’s saying it’s her fault 
But really it ain’t, I am the one who got caught 

So from now on, I am a changed man
I’m ready…well…I understand
Why all those people tried to give me a hand 

For all those out there who think the thug life is for you THINK!
Leave it alone before you hit the stage of “Thug mentality”
And RECIVE A PLEA! SERVE A SENTENCE! AND MISS OUT ON THE REST OF LIFE!
