Poem
The musician played his masterpiece, Yet the audience didn’t seem to hear, All they heard were the notes, And the musician’s soul fell on deaf ears. He had spent his time and energy, Poured his heart into every note, Yet to the audience it was just another tune, He was certain in them more feelings it would invoke. Musicians create their art, By mixing the colors of their notes, And creating a beautiful canvas, In the form of a musical score. For them it is their special gift, A way of expressing how they feel, It’s more than a just another tune, It’s their soul, their thoughts, and who they are. One composition may be dramatic, And seem dark and evoke feelings of fear, Yet it is through this dark and intense music, That the intended effect becomes clear. Another composition may be softer, Less dramatic in its style and pace, It may engender feelings of peace, And draw you into a more meditative space. Whether it be dramatic or soft, The style matters not, For to truly understand the musician and their special gift, And to experience music as it was meant to be, We must hear more than the notes, We must hear the musician’s soul.
