Poem
Tell me Have you ever felt you could runway Far away to a secret place Where time stands still The hot sun mostly shows its beaming face. Well come! Take my hand And I'll take you to that place A world away in that distant land few Have ever been Or ever seen We'll sail away together On calm tranquil seas The wind in our sails Hair streaming in a warm Soothing breeze Eventually, we reached land Take a train To a crowded commercial town A sea of ugly concrete And cheap hotels Where tourists drink till the sun goes down We bypass the harsh polluted noisy din To take a detour Following winding snaking path For a day or, maybe more Through mountain passes Rough trails And sweeping valleys A carpet of lush vibrant green Hills and vale As the hot sun perched hanging From an ultra blue unblemished clear sky Finally, we reached our destination High up with enjoying breathtaking panoramic vistas Of tiny terracotta-roofed whitewashed Homes dotted in rows Set against a clear emerald drifting lapping sea We climb down a well worn Sandstone steps What we see before us is A timeless idle Snug hidden fishing village Bright orange balls and yellow ovals Hang heavy upon green shimmering In a rustling whispering breeze Along with ripened regimental olive groves Pear and apple trees In the harbour Piles of ropes and fishing nets Loiter the key Where a small flotilla of fishing boats Idlely waiting to go back to sea The locals know what hard work is In a hot sun at harvest time Donkies follow the leader Weighed down with strapped baskets Of peeping produce Climbing upward and onwards Steep hills There is a quaint small market Selling fresh fish Shellfish crabs Fruit and Vege The elderly retired locals Sit in shade Lost in yesterdays. The inhabitants know well what hard work is But they also How to rest and enjoy the pleasant evenings And let their hair down They all sit down together Enjoying a plentiful hearty meal Wine and olive oil flow And there a family feel After they have finished They gather around the cool fountain spray Bow their heads and pray Then the fun begins Children around in bare feet Giggling as they go Musicians play accordions and mandolins strum their guitars Dance in a circle holding hands and sing The young flirt and fall in love A heavenly oasis lost in another world Living simply Not corrupted Pure as snow Like they always have In Harmony Since the first foundations Were laid down unknown centuries ago Hope, you enjoyed your escape The dream is over And now You can now awake. The dream is possible if you have hope Strong heartfelt faith And devotion Then it won't be my hand you take But God's.
