Poem
Sometimes When we have a loving relationship Life gets in the way The pressures of work money worries Piles of unpaid bills Not enough time for each other The relationship erodes and folds You try but you go separate ways When we were poor my love and I Had nothing We scrimped and saved For the little we had Things started to change When we got rich And from nothing We had everything we'd want to need A bigger house two new cars And instead of smoking cigarettes I then smoked cigars Gave big tips in restaurants and fancy hotels Holiday'ed in Nashville And on stage played guitar The gap between us just got to wide And the relationship we'd built together Became a stormy place And our love just like a rose began to die Yes we had everything we needed Accept each other And ourselves We finally managed to bury the hatchet And put our troubles on the shelf To save ourselves Packing up to go our separate ways The love we had was buried under a thin layer of snow Both looking at our wedding photograph Broke our hearts in too With tears in our eyes Held each other for a hug Feeling her warm body Her heart next to mine I could feel her heart race Matching mine Then she looked up at me With her dewy limpid eyes And whispers "'Let's make love for the last time'' We made love that day Both our bodies soothingly warm Skin so soft Looking at other Through brand-new eyes That spoke and smiled The love passion and a need so strong Just as those sweet warm feelings When we first met So wrapped up in love Two eclipsed into one Alone Under the same sun I looked at her Her face looked so beautiful Her playful cheeky eyes Smiling like the sun Saying I need and want you To pleasure and take me right now! We spent the rest of the day Kissing giving sharing and caring With such so much hunger And tenderness and finesse Weaving bodies skin-to-skin Soft butterfly kisses Awakening a new dawn A new pain so sweet As we both enjoyed the lavish feast Drinking intoxicating heady summer wine We both melted into each other The rush of euphoric emotions Overflowing and rekindling the intense fire After we'd climbed and reached the mountain peak And came down We lay in others' welcoming pleading arms The warm embers still aglow Her arm around me Her sweet head gently nuzzled upon my chest Made me feel like I was a giant And a man Her lustrous silken hair Hanging and cascading down Listening to the throbbing beat of my heart Drifting off and sailing On calm water Somewhere within a distant dream We spent time kissing each other With so much sincerity and honesty Joining two hearts together again as one And whispering how much we missed And loved each other Appreciated and valued Each other more than any treasure Trinket or gold We mutually agreed to stay together Forever and beyond We both realised the truth as the Beatles had said "'Money Can't buy you love'' There are much more important things Totally free We all need money to live And eat But we remembered what was really important When once we had nothing The well was dry But we had each other We put first And although we struggled We were happy What good is selling your soul For wealth And losing each other. "Inspired by a friend's Mother. " We were much happier, when we had nothing, just a stone cottage.''
