Written: March 05, 2024 For Edward Ebeh Contest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh, Hermes, during historical eras of reign, Greek literature thrived—minds free of strain. Let's drift for a jaunt to the heart of Byzantine, Where expertise and insight found their shine. Mercury, with Venus—in art could combine, Creating a world where beauty would shine. But beyond art—power would be found, Force could induce humble axioms to abound. In bosom of a yoke—a sword would wave, Air stole souls to depths—it would crave. A clairvoyant spirit, subtle and keen, Killed doubts and drowned fears within. Wrath was unsettled and concealed Oracles, As nature unveiled its mysteries and miracles. Whatever is in her might be a lambent stream, Azoth's mind intricate, comely, relaxing dream. Her reverberations echo through time and place, From hardy mountains to enclosed space. A power in her vapor, a curb on smoky substance, A spirit of amicable warmth and transmuting essence. Who created life or brought the dream? Who's slight insights and sights does God redeem? In the sphere beyond time, space, and matter. The cold corridors of time are lost and scatter If you mingle with Azoth—you will cross his wall. You'll arise as a meteoric comet, in meek call Its genesis holds the key to elixir wellness. Wrought oneiric metals that cure deadness. Azoth Mercury elixir vitae—imbue vigor to body, Inspiration and enthusiasm—mind embody. Mysterious and imperfect as the body may be, But flaws it can reform, with equidistant foresee. Reliable for a quest for bodily and mental purity. Ubiquitous nostrum, cure, and elixir of life surity. Included in the 1567 Rosicrucian artwork. The sword pommel is inscribed with Azoth lurk. Heavenly magic sigils and ploys to protect, Against illnesses and injuries, they reflect. Analogous to the dazzle that nature contains, Unabridged insight of stallion cosmos it retains. Used as the philosopher's stone in esoteric lore, Drawings depicting Azoth—its work in alchemy core. Grace in inception and at closing, A widespread stance seems utmost interposing. Opposites, akin to metal and steam, An embryo of vice in a womb of dream Azoth, O miserly Azoth—it transforms, From steam to mercurial water, it reforms. Diaphanous putrefaction, chaff from grain, Azoth's alchemical jaunt is an eternal refrain. Through depths of our universe, it will show, Unveiling secrets that only Azoth can bestow.
