If anyone would like to have some community fun, please send me a limerick(s) in a comment or soup mail. The famous Blarney Stone, some can't resist When in Ireland, it's on tourist's checklist But do not be deceived If it's to be achieved Some help from friends you might want to enlist It's said, once kissed you'll have the gift of gab But the position's sent some to rehab It's all about talking But I'd call it squawking Those who've done it more often, blab and blab Reaching the Blarney Stone can be a chore Kissing it is filled with stories of lore I'm not a germaphobe But my lips will not probe The rock that was kissed many times before Tom shared his Blarney Stone story. Oh, dear In one photo he wore the look of fear He was pale as a ghost Then he offered a toast "To the Stone, I shall drink a Guinness Beer!" ~~~~~~ Lin Lane At the tower, wind would chill to the bone Tom's wife wasn't impressed and had a moan But so determined was he For the magic stone to see And kiss it, the world-famous Blarney Stone. The deed done they went back to their hotel Tom's wife was feeling the chill, you could tell Irish whiskey put her right Tom never shut up all night Fairies of eloquence had cast their spell. ~~~~~~ Tom Cunningham I tried to kiss that stone, to no avail Turned out to be a monumental fail While lying on my back There was an ant attack Red ones biting me, so I had to bail ~~~~~~ Mark Koplin Fred went to kiss the magic Blarney stone To find a new mate and not be alone Hoping for virility To increase ability But it was still left limp and had not grown ~~~~~~ Tania Kitchin I never gave the Blarney Stone a kiss As I'd got a bad hip, gave it a miss So the gift of the gab Is not in my vocab The Hubby calls it ineffable bliss. ~~~~~~ Beryl Edmonds The tales of Blarney’s stone they sing And the gift tis said the kiss will bring The echoed brogue Of ranting rogue To talk for an hour not say a thing ~~~~~~ John Lawless Johnny fox wanted to get off his rocks Just one problem, he was no chatter box He kissed the blarney stone Hoping to hear girls moan Now he’s recovering from some hard knocks ~~~~~~ David Kavanagh The Blarney Stone, I’ve kissed it too - It was pretty awkward to do I got over my fears Now I have folk in tears Of laughter with poems on pooh! ~~~~~~ Jan Allison I tried to kiss it, truly I did I gave it my best bid The twist in my tongue From where I’d begun Left me with a twitching eyelid ~~~~~~ Linda Alice Fowler In Blarney there’s one magic stone When you kiss it, you’re put in the zone You’ll soon gab with words so glib Matters not if it’s truth or fib With a stout Guinness, one must atone ~~~~~~ Sara Etgen Baker I thought Blarney Stone would be great to see And whilst there, I shall give a kiss to thee But upon asking a man Who went by the name of Sam I found not green algae but a bit of wee ~~~~~~ Christina Bowring "My husband's a pain in the neck and never shuts up for a sec," she said with a moan. "He's eyeing that stone... and kissed it again. Feckin' heck!" ~~~~~~ Jack Horne
