Poem
Grief tears down the walls, Built by scarred hearts, Convincing walls, sturdy like the oak – But not nearly as resilient when anguish trembles In hearts who have never known the dark, The soundless shadows, Fading like a smile who has been so lonely, For the one who has gone on, The one whose memory still breaks a heart, The one whose light will never fade from the stars. Grief builds bridges, Between melancholy and silence, Covering the wings of gentle spirits, Who remember to just breathe, let go of the regret, While holding on to the lessons, the lasting Lessons, like diamonds in the sands of time, Glistening, shimmering, shaping the dreams, Who have yet to be dissuaded by the despair, Dreams who might have grieved, But who never let the grief succeed, In diminishing the need for hope who believes, Hope who never leaves, despite the grief. Grief tempts the lonely, Stirring silence without provoking the deafening screams, Cries from hearts who remember and grieve, Greive like lost children, whose mother – deceased, Brings longings beyond belief, longings who can see, Through the aching, the yearning, the war that teases… Hearts, souls, feelings – dreams, With a quiet vagueness, a sturdy anonymity Who remembers the light, faded and dwindling, Almost vanishing beneath the seas of pain – Stardust reflections stirring moments of grace, Those days when we face the growing ache… Without tears, without fears, knowing that, through the years… Grief will never let you pass beyond the looking glass, Without reminding you – the time, though faded, Is still a painful place, a darkness, an anguish… Where the memory of the one who has gone - still lives, Always piercing the heart with the knowing… Despite the light that keeps flowing and the love, still growing… Death lights the fires of woe, still blowing… In winds of heartbreaking despair, winds who care, Despite the moments of solace, the relief Found in knowing – despite the grief, this love is still alive, This love survives even death’s heavy wound, Leaving the heart sure that, one day… There will be a reunion that lasts eternally – It is the destiny of those who share in the faith… Forever and always, there is peace in the promise, Where our hope is secure because Jesus truly saves, Giving souls the answer… love that never fades, Love that finds a way through the grief, to the relief That comes to those who simply believe in Jesus, Our soul’s beautiful destiny, joy that lasts eternally!
