FOUR TENETS OF CREATIVITY PERCEPTION PARTURATION PUBLICATION PARTICIPATION INTRODUCTION This short eBook encompasses my experiences of the creative in both art and poetry in particular. The content of each of the four elements Perception, Parturation, Publication and Participation are themselves expressed in a variety of poetic form .The cause and effect of creativity .the impulse that creates inspiration, followed by the parturition (berthing) of the image, idea, thought ,into an artform giving life so to speak ,in words. This primary purpose, the act of creativity, which is more important than whether it is considered 'valuable ' or is subjectively 'good' in someone else's eyes. Then proceeding on its secondary reason, complementary and (thus a further bonus )is the the 'communion' thereof , 'the icing on the cake ' ,via first publication, and then record ,and to its fulfilment ,as another 'reads' or sees that images, idea or thought that once resided within me, its participation with another person. The unique 'as is momen',of communion created. PERCEPTION Shafts of light pierce the gloom- inspiration speaks Those pictures in the mind- paint my private space. A well within- images, pictures in the mind, dreams and visions and things not known. impressionistic inspiration in visualised expressions rivers, rivers stream my mind spring forth images,to find Within the soul of my experience Unconscious seeds of tomorrow's joy, Awaiting the warmth of encouragement Lay dormant, seeking inspiration's light; Words, verbs, adjectives, aimless, without form, Times, past, times present, amalgams of verse Unshaped, until imagination's birth, Bursts from the spring of my maturity. awake, arise ideas and fly free on imagination's unfettered wings, blown to and forth, and settle where you will; Ignite inspiration's delight, tonight Come.. fly with me beyond, beyond imagination; Capture.. emotion's aurora in your firmanent; Watch.. images descend as crystallised inspiration; Bathe.. in a tide of surreal tranquility; Paint.. what you see with fine words of poetry. the vivid images in a painter's eye transformed, splash upon canvas- the nouns, adjectives memorable verbs from poetic ears writ large, then sweet voices, heard An image alights as a butterfly in Spring A thought arrives as inspiration on the wing An idea resides to crystallize and bring image thought together as one inspiration makes its own pace decides the form rhythm pause rhyme design bubbles from its spring seemingly inexhaustible The music of silence calms my mind my thoughts trickle-down bubbling over the rocks of experience Waves of imagination surface and jostle one with the other like children at play shouting for attention for life on my page Ideas with nowhere to hide buried deep within long forgotten dreams indistinct ,then becoming clear words & pictures coming near- like petals on a stream; A fragrance that lingers within a passage of light to my soul, inspiration to make me whole. From this confusion, the mosaic of ideas harmonizes, delineated and etched as a pattern of thought, a ribbon of inspiration settles as a verse. From tumultuous discussions within images strive for life as a new-born child wriggles from the womb.First an outline, then in silhouette, each unique line,a perceptible signature,so individual and more personal than a diary. This spontaneity impetuously releases the extrovert upon this page, squeezed out as rain in an arid world. Artistic inspiration writes itself, as I merely provide the pen Mute and multiplied, thoughts trained and tamer, the subconscious becomes a workaday drama.A confusion then evolves into the particular and floats upon my page. Simple symbols of self expression imagery in intuitive motifs, a harmony of colour ..inspiration of moods fused into metaphor In the silence I think, day dream I suppose.. thoughts drift in as images... In this quiet I am so alone ... awaiting some inspiration. One by one a word appears ..unannounced.. As a chrysalis to a butterfly a poem to emerge.. from a mosaic of memories to an inspiration surge Inflections... pauses.... silence. The unwritten gaps... the unsaid words.. with graduated musical phrases.. as strophes of inspiration, berthed & cadenced in our ear. inspiration awaits an interlude to flash and sparkle, an opportunity for bravura foreshadowed in half-closed eyes an otherworldly moment..
