I pray for the empathy,
Compassion and understanding,
To give someone besides just me,
Music of light and laughter,
Notes of joy and peace,
A sense of assurance that love,
Yes, love can overcome anything!

I pray for the silence,
Still as the softest smile,
Pleasant and startling,
Like the prayers prayed, pleas,
For this light that sings,
Past the grief, past the doubt,
Into the heart, the soul,
Where silence, yes silence…
Is a wonderous echo, a note,
Murmuring the soul’s melodies.

I pray for the inspiration,
Stirring up wonders I can’t invent,
Colors of joy that paint the world,
In hues of purpose, hues of grace,
Dreams and feelings, shadows
Stealing quietly through the life,
The life who believes, without seeing…
His love is an unending thing.
His love is the reason I can say….

Today, as I celebrate the new year –
There is a hope and a faith,
A promise of the love and the grace,
The answer to prayers I have prayed,
The gentle that captures my mind,
Restores me so that I can know He’s right…
He is the reason that love will decide…
If I give, with an open heart.
If I live, with a soul who knows hope.
If I give, without any expectation…
Of getting, gaining – If I give, knowing…
I will only grow larger in my belief.

Today, is the moment I can say…
Without His love, I’d never know the way,
Through the shadows that shame,
The fears that always blame,
The darkness that smothers my flame,
The light that reminds me, today
And everyday – with Him, I’ll always say…
Praise God, the King who took away,
Every fear, every tear, every year’s disgrace.

Without Him, I’m lost, but with Him,
Despite the cost… I know the wonder of grace,
The answer is this faith in the One who came,
To redeem and to save, to take away the pain…
That comes from knowing we’ve gone astray,
And, for our souls… this means we need a Savior,
One to whom I pray… for the chance to give away…
The light that He gave me when He saved me,
The light that never fades away, because this light,
It is love that always saves, love that ever lives,
Love that is Jesus power, the wonder of His presence…
Bringing hearts and souls the gift that lasts forever!

As we meet this new year, hope flows from my soul,
A soul who surely knows – love, yes love – is the one thing
That I hope will grow to bring others into the presence –
Of a love who is alive, a love who is free, a love who brings….
Every heart its wings, every soul its serenity and every life…
It’s ability to reflect the wonder that is God’s light,
Falling over those who believe He’ll shine through the night,
Revealing the wonder found in Him who makes everything right!
