plausible patience petered out
   awareness inverted 
            beyond the setting sun
alongside mirror images 
              of it's rise
           taking talking into trance like states
                situated wildly 
    off centre for viability
       beneath a reflection 
                   is nothing 
      but longing
              an untouched ache of a dimension
        that is prismatic 
     and primordial
                inescapably unreal 
       a level that echoes 
             with heroic endeavour 
         substance scented as the familiar
                                to hold you in chains
                for the fretful feature strongly
         as the soil beneath your feet
                 tension builds until taut 
  or snaps
           don't tell me 
                  there's a spider 
                  under the table
     carry on regardless
       just like so many other creatures
   trembling hands serve no purpose
         tentative minds linger too long
     chaos creeps
         into the crevices
     and spaces
         speaking of the art of safe seclusion 
    unknowing whispers 
              whirlpool lives away
       I too am guilty 
of gazing
     into the middle distance 
        placated by promises
                                that I don't own
        paid for with chances 
I didn't take
