Poem

In attempting to portray inner light,
immediate and intimate to us,
the flavour of fragrance was lost to sight,
lost in symbols, which began to nonplus.
The truth of our being is never lost
but here and now, with memory erased,
dark delusion causes our heart to frost,
deadened to bliss beats that leave us amazed.
The dilemma of monks is clear to see,
for what they wish to say, addresses heart
but since from thought forms we are never free,
our soul’s spiritual quest fails to start.
How may truth of oneness be known to mind,
as we flounder about, just like the blind?

As we flounder about, just like the blind,
in pursuit of desires which will not last,
truth of our inner light we cannot find
and thus our dark destiny’s die is cast.
As long as everything is weighed and sized,
we are separated from existence
and truth of Self is never realised,
simply because of ego’s insistence.
Know we are far more than this feeble form,
which we can see, is subject to decay,
so entering silence, feeling heart warm,
we can, if we choose, grant love right of way.
This is a choice we must make by free will,
for voids within to fill, we must be still.

For voids within to fill, we must be still,
transcending mind by leaving thoughts behind,
that God may Himself, love and light instil,
that we are with ultimate truth aligned.
Nothing need be done save coming undone,
attention animated in the void,
whereupon we recognise all are one,
being no longer by thought forms decoyed.
Descent and ascent is the game we play,
that when delusion drops in the ocean,
we imbibe within bliss that’s here to stay,
sipping soma nectar’s magic potion.
How may we describe throb of bliss delight, 
in attempting to portray inner light?
