Our Children Will Accept Nothing Less I believe climate change has us thinking more about our responsibility to all life on our planet. I believe we can save ourselves and our world from extinction. I believe our world can accomplish this by adopting an enlightened understanding of true power. Throughout history, we have witnessed power wielded by leaders with little understanding of true power. True power is not wealth accumulation at the expense of others and our environment. True power is not violence and intimidation toward others. True power is not holding on to our greed, for all its worth, to the detriment of others. I believe with heart and soul that true power is the will to create a world where all have a home, all have food, and all live in a world where altruism is a way of life. I believe true power brings to an end all global hostilities and brokers one deal after another to secure stability and peace. I believe true power is the will to demand accountability on the part of fossil fuel corporations and their seismic impact on a rising global temperature. I believe true power is seizing the moment to abandon prejudice, condescension, intolerance, and hate speech. I believe true power is open to Grace. Let our children remind us of true power with their smiles and the wonder in their eyes. Our children look to us for benevolent guidance in the ways of our world. Our children will learn of our belief in the intrinsic value and beauty of all life on Earth. Our children need to witness, in our everyday actions, respect and kindness toward one another, a spirit of cooperation and unity, open communication, and willingness to work out differences. Our children will come to an understanding of who they are and with that understanding, a profound knowledge of their inner selves will evolve. Our children with their self-awareness will live fulfilling lives. Our children will engage in humble, sincere, non-judgmental, and vulnerable conversations with all they meet. Our children will imagine and bring about a world where lives are devoted to the love of self, family, and community. Our children will imagine and bring about a world where the challenge of living in a post-industrial society is met with grace and determination. Our children will give us all the motivation we need to save Mother Earth. We who love the children of our world will want nothing more than to save Mother Earth. Our children know, instinctively, the world is a cosmic gift, and to show their appreciation our children will care for Mother Earth and find happiness in living their lives, free of despair and full of promise. *
