Poem
Beneath the mantel's alabaster gleam Where verdigris flames pirouette, in cerulean ballet's beam... We gather close—a familial love— In hallowed halls where chimes of crystal laughter, stream. Amid the yuletide glow, memories take flight, a morning dove... Cinnamon-kissed balsam and spiced gingerbread scent fills the air, A chorus of joy unconfined; With carols sung, and spirits laid bare, Christmastide unfolds—a wondrous find. In candle's dance, the soft whisper of snowflakes intertwined. Yet amidst the mirth, some hearts do pine For loved ones lost, in time's cruel wake; Their absence felt, as we dine and wine, A silent toast, for memory's sake... In the joyous din, in the silent winter chill, their echoes partake. Avuncular tales, like weathered scrolls unfurled, Flow through the years, a timeless tide Of faith and love, in hushed credos told; His voice a gentle breeze, where memories confide. With every yarn, the warmth of woolen hugs abide... Maternal hands, like starlight weaves through night's fabric, Unfurl the gifts, with tender grace; Each treasure—an avowal of love— A silent prayer, a breath, an embrace. In the wrap a rustle, the smooth silk of ribbons trace... Child-triggered laughter, sweet and bright, Like bells that chimes on winter's breath; Their eyes alight with Christmas light, Unburdened souls, unchained from care... In laughter's echo, the playful patter of tiny feet share. The feast is spread, a cornucopia grand, A plethora of flavors bold and new; A testament to a loving hand, A saga shared, in warmth imbued. With every bite, the comfort, spice of cinnamon reviewed... But greater still, the gift unseen, The Spirit that transcends the night; Of love and peace, a halo's gentle glean, In hearts aflame, with inner light... In silent moments, the sacred silence of a snow-covered night's delight. For Christmastide is more than revelry, It's hope restored, a beacon, a bold and daring; A light that guides us through the year's unfolding, A love that conquers darkness, all despair unparing... With each dawn, the crisp scent of winter's promise is unfearing. And as the bells announce the dawn's embrace, With spirits high, we raise our voice in song; In gratitude, the chains effaced, A family united, where we belong... With voices joined, the harmony of hearts in joyful throng. For Christmastide is not confined To fleeting moments, wrapped in gold; It lives within, in hearts entwined, A story lingers, never too old... In retold tales, the soft glow of tradition takes a bold hold. So let us share this precious plentitude, Of family, love, and faith's embrace; A legacy forever moonbeam-strewn, The spirit of Christmas, in each face... With each shared moment, the gentle warmth of shared stories finds its rightful place. As the last embers softly expire, And shadows dance upon the wall, A gentle sigh escapes the pyre, A murmur from beyond the hall... In quiet moments, the tender touch of nostalgia echoes of love recall. "My children," rings a voice serene, "Though time may pass, and seasons change, Remember, love is ever keen, The Spirit of Christmas, forever engaged..." In echoes, the melody of cherished memories forever exchange. For in each act of kindness done, In every word of love expressed, The true meaning of Christmas, begins, The Spirit of Hope in Christ, forever confessed... With each act, the fabric of compassion is woven into an eternal caress.
