Poem
Friendship When you think you can’t go on, And you’ve stopped singing In the middle of your song And your body feels numb and cold Cos someone says, you are wrong, So you’re confused and start to fold Because you don’t know where you belong, Specially when you are told You’re so dramatic and weird. These things I have also known And as a friend, I’m here To tell you, you are not alone When you have nowhere to go, And can’t find your way back home, When you don’t know what to do or say, You are not alone. I can show you right now, today That you are worthy to be loved, I’m not made of stone, Your doubts, fear and pain Are all things that I have known, Again and again. So please, don’t be afraid to share Just call and if I can, I’ll be there And show you that I truly care, You are not alone. When you can’t find the door And can’t take anymore, I will be your home, That’s what friends are for, You are not alone. I will hold you when you shake And gather the pieces If you break. If I can’t bring your anguish to an end I will hold your hand, If I can’t shelter you From the storms and rain, Can show you that I really understand And together we can laugh and cry again, You are not alone. There are people That harm just to get more power And are so disturbed and criticise When we shine and flower, If you think you must hide When someone tries to force you To decide To do things you don’t want to do, And treats you like a child, I’m right here, by your side. You are not alone. I’m here to remind you: You are a beautiful human being And deserve appreciation And to be seen. For, like the birds and the trees: A divine creation And are worthy of dignity and respect, Even if you are full of doubt or irritation, Or fearful, tearful and depressed. The most courageous thing you can do Is not to compare, When striving to be the best, Or get lost and stressed, but simply rest In the rainbow colours of all that you are. And when life seems an endless test, You are not alone. When we dance together and meditate, We find our inner strength, Peace and light, So don’t give up, it’s never too late And it’s not about being wrong – or right. But sometimes we need to go in, to go out, Sometimes we need to scream and shout And let things out Just to find out, That as we are, we’re enough. And to remind us that we are here To give and receive love, So, no need to fear, These things I have also known Hey, You are not alone. Sanngeet Portals 2023
