Poem
Sometimes awkward, In the company of a moment, a friend Who has revealed to me, her bitterness, Her cynicism, hostility, resentment… Feelings lost within a world of darkness. Never will I pray for her anything except joy, I hope that blessings flow over her, Like an endless cup of smiles and wonder, A grace that clings to heart and soul, A gentling that silences every fear she knows, A beautiful that erases every lone tear, A wonder that embraces the light, A light twinkling within. Always, I will be her greatest admirer, Remembering the moments… Before doubts and sorrows crushed her Beneath the losses and the hurts, The feelings beaten by shame and regret, There is hope – and courage that desires… To breathe light into the shadows, So they fade, leaving the magnificent hues From blessings who will never fail, Blessings that promise to arouse the faith, Blessings that take away the dread, Leaving the soul with pearls who will not wait, Pearls of love, sent from God above. Sometimes clumsy, In the company of pain, My signature moment comes, Even when the heart is breaking, Love is not forsaking. Love is always waking… The gentle, the kind, the sincere, The beautiful secreted beneath the tears, The wonderful veiled by dread, dismay, despair. The amazement fading into the weight of lost grace. I long to tell her about this love, Love from the One who remembers us, When we hurt, when we yearn, when we pray, He is always there, silencing the gray, Bringing light to the breathless day, the time Just before the clouds rest on the skies, Imitating the glow of a sunlight’s smile, The music so abundant in the eyes of a child, The promise of a poem who lives, A poet who gives the heart a feeling, A bit of light shining through the spirit, A song to sing, even when there’s grief. I hope she will know, even when I don’t show… I love her so – Oh, I love her so, the soul, Who is the reason I can say, she is my friend, Even when I don’t know how to encourage or hearten. She is the friend who is like a pearl herself - within She has been broken, damaged by the sands of sorrow – But, as time passes – she is changing to a treasure, A beautiful pearl who only God could have nurtured – With His own sustenance, the wonder of His gift, The love that is alive, the love that is His to give, the love… That rests inside those who know He is with them!
