Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither. - C. S. Lewis I’ve never been to heaven, where all is new. So I can’t truly know what happens there. I don’t know if there is work there to do, Or if we’ll all spend every minute in prayer. I don’t know if when I’m in heaven, I’ll be known. Will familiar faces surround my soul? Or will I meet new people around the throne? I doubt I’ll feel like I need any control. Surely there’ll be wonders that I’m shown. Wonders that can make me feel completely whole. I’ve never been to paradise, high up above, So I don’t know, when I get there, what to say and do. There could be poetry to write or books to read about love. Or, maybe these are things we thought we outgrew. I don’t know who I’ll be seeing first. It could be my granny, my pa or my aunt. It could be Jesus, who I’ve longed for the worst. There isn’t a doubt, there’ll be much to enchant. But, because He is there – I know I’ll never thirst. As I know Him, my Savior, my hopes He will grant. I’ve never been to heaven, where I’ll live, Happily ever after, eternally with Him. When I was on earth, all my sins He did forgive. I ponder if we’ll listen to the angels sing a hymn? Though I was once lost, my soul – He did revive. Forever in glory, where His light will never dim! I don’t know the answers or the why’s. Though I believe there is joy beyond our dreams. Thanks to His love, after death, our souls arise. When we’re with Jesus, we’ll feel love to extremes. Our hearts will love with an adoration we can’t disguise. This love we give down here, means more than it seems. I’ve never been to heaven, where Jesus abides. But I know, around the throne, He shines. It is here on earth that our heart decides… If we’ll be reborn, so our names He signs – In His book, where only love and grace guides, Freeing the souls of believers in His bloodlines! I don’t know the reason for everything in this life. I only know that love and grace will make a way. Because we know Him, He comforts those in strife. And, love this amazing, our words just can’t convey. It feels like His love silences fear of the afterlife. Because we know He is here, and He will never betray. I’ve never been to heaven – no, I’ve not seen my home. But, I’m sure it’s strong and sturdy – it is filled with light. And, thanks to the builder, Jesus, I’ll never need to roam. Because I’m born again, my soul holds the birthright. Forever, with my Savior, who’ll take my hand and show me… The beauty of heaven, where my soul will take flight!
