‘Twas the night before Christmas and I was away.
I promised I would be home for lunch Christmas day.
 I decided to call to wish everyone a good night
“Hi honey. It’s Daddy, is everything all right?”

“Hi Daddy, I am making cards, Mummy’s and yours” 
“Is Mommy there?”  “She is upstairs with Santa Clause”
 “But it’s too early for Santa to be there” I say.
“Daddy he is here now, he has been here all day.”

“He is up in yours and Mummy’s bedroom right now”
“Darling, I want you to do something for me, this is how,
Leave the phone, run upstairs and I want you to say
In a loud voice ‘Daddy’s car just pulled into the driveway! “ 

Sweet little girl was eager to obey and then came back
“Mummy jumped out of bed and tripped on Santa’s sack”
“Now poor Mummy isn’t smiling, not smiling one bit at all”
“Oh No” I said,” and what did Santa do, after mommy's fall?”

“He jumped out of bed too but didn’t trip over his sack,
He jumped out the window into the yard out the back,
And he fell into the pool, but I guess he didn’t mean it
Maybe he didn’t know you took the water out to clean it”

“He is swimming in the pool, because rain filled it last night.
Daddy, do you think Santa Clause is going to be alright?”
“ SWMMNG POOL?  We don’t have a”.. I wasn’t smiling !
“Is this my girl Suzy?” "No, I’m Jane, must be the wrong 
number you were dialing."
