Poem
I tried to find a place at sea to set my aching spirit free so I took a ride in a dug-out boat and row towards the foot of the mount. No one was in sight except me, and the element in the sea, I watched the fish danced around the boat and the shark in the distance pushing out its long mouth and swallowing the big dish in its gigantic throat. They did not look at me because the sea Gods prevents them from swimming towards me, the sea current was so strong and pushes them toward the shore and I could not see them anymore. I continue rowing in the sea as my heart aches desperately for thee, I didn’t know where I was going but me and my dug-out boat kept sailing and the sun kept shouting in my back and the wind kept pining after me. I just wanted this moment of solitude where I could reason with the universe about the things in the deep and the wandering bear that is stealing from everyone far and near, It roams around the town stealing barbecue for people’s home and throwing dust into people’s face, and chopping down their garden, Oh how my spirit aches. The sea kept pushing me along with its calm vibration and musical song, I kept sailing along forgetting all the troubles and care and the wicked people over there. I continue to float to where I don’t know and I drifted in the middle of the sea, there was nothing in sight except for the sky above and the vast sea around me, the sun was there too and the mountain in the horizon was beckoning me to come. I know that this solitude was not for long and just as I thought of it, I heard a rumbling in the distance, I had company in the midst of eternity. A fishing boat with people nets and baits speed in the middle of the stream and interrupted my sweet dreams. They pulled to the side of the boat and pulled me over; they spoke in a strange accent and wet my head with cold water and tried to revive me; my spirit was alive but my consciousness was fading; the sun had done much damage at sea and they were just in time to save me. One man and five women on board the fishing boat restore my energy as I made my way back to the shore. They gave me a hot cup of tea to sweat out the toxic sea salt out of my system and a bottle of cold water to stop the dehydration but the trouble was far from over. A ship crept up from behind loaded with all forms of merchandize and a man points a gun at us. The other man with a along beard jumps inside the fishing boat and peeped around , then he took a bucket of fish and went back on his ship and said, “we are coming to your town” He throws a crate of whiskey and a box of beer in the boat and smile, we smile back at them and we suddenly became sea friends and went back to the shore together. No road is too rough to travel and no journey is too dangerous to undertake. Solitude is found in depth of your heart and you cannot find it at sea.
