Poem
They are hiding everywhere waiting for the right moment to appear, see them hanging from the roof with boots pulled up to their knees and ropes tied up into the trees swinging like monkeys on the limbs entering the, darkness that spreads throughout the length and breadth of the strip. The streets are bare and empty and not a sign of life could be found except a mongoose fighting its way through the rubble and the rats playing hide seek in the garbage. I felt a sudden inclination that something was transpiring in the dark but I could not tell from whence it starts. It is the scene of an abandon city with hope shouting from the other side and lost dreams buried inside. Some have left the city but others were locked inside hoping for a miracle that could turn the tide. Rockets and missile bellows over their head and big explosions force them out of their beds, they sit still in the dark piecing together a plan on how to escape from the city of doom, but the plan had no weight and it fell apart before they reached the gate. They were surrounded from east to west, north and south and the barrel of gun was shouting from the top of the roof with bundles wrapped up in front of them they crawl on their belly and knees in the dark and make their way out of heaven. “There is nowhere to hide a voice came shouting from the roof,” “there is nowhere to hide, I will greet you at midnight.” The message was clear that there was a secret movement growing over there and a hundred thousand people had signed on to it and they took to social media to confirm it. See them hurrying into the meeting, dressed in jacket and tie and paperwork piled up into a bundle sitting at the table. It contains all the deals that were made for more than twenty years and they come crashing through the table before anyone could implement them. They are going back to the same meetings to strike another deal, but will that deal hold or will it go flying through the door. They argue for hours and try to produce a simple plan that everyone could agree on and after three hours they were all dancing the shimmy together. Men whose heart was hard as stone melt in awe when they enter the town, the level of destruction was so deep they fell on their knees and wept , the destruction was profound, they stripped off their gown and burn them in the middle of the street, they cut off their beard and burn inside the Mosque then ripped the veil from the women’s faces and set them ablaze in the Mosque. They gather around the village and made apple pies and gave it to everyone in the street to settle the dust beneath their feet.
