Poem
I should have washed the dried tears away My skin is uncomfortable this morning That can be remedied though There is a hush and I feel I can hear a far away train It might be my blood pumping past my ears but I'm enjoying picturing a freight train steadily travelling along Imagining faded containers of blue and red going by in a heart racing flash Almost too quick for the eye but for the length of the train giving you time to discern shapes, colours and gaps in-between Plus the impact of the vibrations and those gaps causing a pulse like breeze Immersive then plunged into the emptiness of no more train The train has continued to be, but it's momentary interaction with my life over Slowly my attention will drift I'm imagining what to... Sometimes a mouse between the lines or a leaf and the old old news story of leaves on the track (as slippy as fairy liquid I recall) But I'm here, the dog has come in the minute he was let out of the kitchen So he's burrowed in for a super snuggle I'm listening to the sounds of the shower whilst I lay in bed a bit longer I can't quite conjure how I'll be today Maybe I should wear my new coat - embody the newness (although it was a vintage purchase) I wore it briefly yesterday and felt like I should really be interviewed on my chic ness for at least a local paper - the roving reporters are thin on the ground to catch such wonders though I'll see how it goes today - maybe there's a poem in the experience of wearing it further afield Just like the freight train people exist in it's proximity only moments - I'm not massive like a freight train though - don't go getting weird ideas I'll wear my new boots too In fact I'll dress as close to a gothic princess as is acceptable for work - greys and blacks in fabrics that swish and swirl And I'll wash my face - wash the discomfort away
