Written 3 September 2023 For With Each Morning Poetry Contest Sponsored by Martin Bram With Each Morning With each morning that greets the sky, What a splendour to watch the sun Slowly glide along the clear high In the far distant horizon Behind trees on the nearby hills, Brightening the green fields And beckoning new hopes that ahead lie. With each morning that heralds new beginnings, Reflections of pink and gold on heaven`s floor * A hint of streaming memories That came some millennia before And the radiance of God`s glory Eyeing from just behind the shore Is a new dawn for our taking. Yet with each morning news on the media My mind is ablaze with woes in Ukraine, And ravages that armies of Russia Inflict on citizens brim in my brain, Usher a distaste all throughout the day And ignites memories of the display Of Russian army in a brutal way. With each morning that blows the western breeze My heart pines and freezes at the vision Of guiltless children of an advanced nation Blasted by missiles and lying aground Or wailing their parents` death just around; Yet Ukraine`s soldiers just don`t yield the ground: My salute to them from across the seas. Howl long will this mean massacre endure! All men, be they paupers or dictators Are temporary travellers, for sure In this earthly sphere, where all creatures Are assessed by the divine Creator Through their actions and deeds in their lifetime To uplift and redeem the human kind. Let it sink down the mind of Russian rulers That those who live by the sword fall by the sword, Let it sink down the mind of all leaders That divine justice of the Supreme Lord Knows no flaws and faultless are His records And to avoid one`s dues one can`t afford, Be he a vassal or a mighty lord. With each morning sun drifting up the sky Let there be hope that peace will soon prevail, The flag of true justice will fly up high And the breeze of humanity won`t fail; Let the flame of faith in the Supreme Lord Dispel the dreary darkness in Ukraine Blow away the wilful wind of discord And liberty be not a word in vain. *"Reflections of pink, and gold on heaven’s floor, a hint of memories that came millenniums before, and the radiance of God’s glory, eying from behind the shore, is a new dawn, for our taking." Martin Braun
