Poem
It is not mandatory However, I feel that it is my duty To respond to Carl Brouard ‘Knowing how to drink is not an art Drinking is not a duty’ But a necessity which is obligatory As it is crucial even vital to drink Water regularly. Choosing such a random fate ‘To drink one’s youthfulness Until reaching drunkenness’ Sang Charles Aznavour Is no longer in fashion. Love, amour They say, is the theme ‘white or black’ Which will remain engraved in the memory Dear Bohemian Poet, as of late Drinking is not an art Knowing how to drink is not a duty Drunk driving is fatal, deadly Alcohol weakens the body And reduces the ability to think straight Besides, it's breaking the law; it’s lawlessness When we cross streets, sidewalks or Corridors with the brain inebriated and hopeless In the end, Carl, you revealed your true color You were a fake ‘indigenist’ with no faith You have become a rambling poet, even a racist Which could only arouse fear or fright Frenzy or hypocrisy. Black, black Is the color of fogless mornings; it is dark Latte is notorious, it's easy to see Black is what strengthens. Black is full of ingenuity The rhythm of the tom-tom beats very strongly in the body Where everyone is wrong, even the dead Dear poet friend of yesterday, it is an illustrious duty To respond poetically to your failures Drinking is a temporary pastime for a drunkard It is courting death in peremptory measures Drinking is not compulsory Drinking is not an art Drinking is not a duty But a personal choice, which is very bizarre. P.S. Tribute to Haitian literature, To Master P. Pompilus and G. Férolus. This is a translation of the poem ‘Réponse À Carl Brouard’ By Hébert Logerie Copyright © August 2023, Hébert Logerie, All rights reserved. Hébert Logerie is the author of several collections of poems. P.S. Hommage à la littérature Haïtienne, A Maître P. Pompilus et à G.Férolus. Copyright © August 2023, Hébert Logerie, All rights reserved.
