Poem
There is a knowledge that began the moment of creation… passed down throughout the ages from generation to generation. Have you ever wondered…thinking…as far back as we can reach… before books, and schools and universities…how did we learn… and who was there to teach? The answer is nature…she has always been our teacher…her lessons she freely gives… It is by watching and listening to her teachings that we humans learn to live. When our life begins…she provides our air and immediately teaches us how to breathe Her dolphins teach us how to swim…her birds to sing…and fly… Her chimpanzees teach us how to laugh…her crocodiles how to cry. She understands once created…we are visitors on her planet…invited…innocent guests So she sends her eagles down to teach us how to build our nests. She offers us her seasons….her moon…her butterflies…never looking for fortune or fame to teach us how everything in life is changing…how nothing stays the same. When we walk naked into her winter…feeling the frostiness of her snow… her lightning teaches us how to make a fire…her spiders how to sew. She offers us her sunshine and rain…she grows plants …a multitude of healthy treats…. and tells us to watch her animals…they’ll show us which ones are safe to eat. She gives her trees to teach us how to grow tall and strong…how to live without complaint She gives us flowers, sunsets and rainbows to inspire us to paint. Her elephants teach us about love…about family and togetherness and show us how from the largest animal… what strength the is in tenderness. Nature is benevolent…she’s generous…she’s tolerant…she’s free with her advice… And from those of us receiving her gifts… every now and then…a thank you would be nice. Perhaps her most important lesson is how she gives while asking for nothing in return…. A lesson she is still waiting patiently for all of us to learn.
