why can't you show me?..... Why can't your know me?
please love me...for I am your child...
I need your strong sense of reaching out...
breaking away from do's and don'ts, 
loving me with grateful smiles, because I'm yours...

together we can learn to appreciate the freshness of life,
the cool, sweet newnesses, perhaps now dimmed in your own...
I am your child...why can't you show me?
what i need from you is your quiet understanding...
that will web me in your wisdom's gile. 
I need your presence, denied me by today's standards.
I need to grow toward you and you toward me
i am your child...do you love me?
I need your example to support me, much more than your advice
your tolerance, your sense of humor, 
I need you to remember what it was to be inexperienced,
or sometimes foolish...
I am your child...
I need your help; we need each other.  
let me do for you and you do for me
I need you to listen to what I dream, to what i feel and to let me know
that you treasure my sharing...
I am your child...
I am your diamond in the rough,
I feel it will take forever to know who i really am
help me find myself, do you love me?...will you show me?
I am your child.
