"Autumn leaves don't fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar." - Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing I’ll loose myself in an autumn stroll When leaves dance in the wind, Silencing the most anxious thoughts With laughing breath, hope and just About every imaginable joy, like notes Of a song played all night long, Reverberating moments in the heart Even melancholy cannot be lost in this Beautiful, this miracle that will never cease, Along the lines of a dusty path, paved With crackling leaves and dreams Who wave through the naked branches, Caressing the silence with sensations of praise, Music more alive than the greatest imagination This is the wonder of yesterday, flowing gently Through the hills, softly trembling on the sunrise Pondering the moments – when to hesitate Considering the veins in a leaf who is crisp, like the air Penetrating with a silent prayer, coloring the heart With joyous tunes, winds displaying all the curiosities, The rhythms, blazing over the prairies, making room For yesterday and tomorrow, playing out a chorus In the storm, exciting even the dark shadows With a charm that never will tell of its stirrings, Inspirations growing like laughter in the child who knows Beyond a doubt, that forever is more than fantasizing, More than the graceful sunflowers or the hopeful stalks Swaying in a corn field, revealing the end of summer And the enchantment of autumn risking its gaze To accept the promise of a setting sun, the feeling Flowing beyond the spirit into the whispers Air, chilling – bumps rising on the flesh, Who is burning to know the restoration Felt by the heart who dances through the fall Like a colorful art, peaceful and supple, Smooth as the easy thoughts who surprise Even the spirit with their emotion, their kindness The gratitude inspired by a sensitivity, An impression of light, softly flowing through Prayers and alibis, dimly lit twilights…. This is autumn, in all its abiding truths Preparing the soul for those moments when Frigid winds and frosty mornings Will remember to ache for the days When rain fell light and gentle, caressing Kissing away the fears and tears – The times when winter wasn’t so near It can feel like autumn was never here, Like the season has been lost in translation, Because we seem go to sleep, unburdened, Then awake to the snowflakes and icicles, Waiting to rush through our spirits – Always aware but never convincing that winter Is truly a necessary season, a blessing Even though it is unfriendly and indifferent!
