Poem
I am of the moment It's interesting being that way I observe with interest what causes stress to others, that doesn't touch me When I had no responsibilities I'd get on a plane and meet a friend if she was travelling - Paris or wherever... Find out the plan when I got there, hey I even arrived in New York with no plan (less clever but it worked out fine) I love random fun and my people In Paris we had nowhere to go one day (really? I don't know, it's the way I remember it) so we decided to buy cheap wine and Cheetos and sit on a bench in the rain with our umbrellas up and take a sequence of photos as the wine (drank from the bottle) was consumed. I believe it was arty... I was in my early 20s, the photos are quite wonderful and it was way before others did the 'this is my first drink' montages, we went to Pompadou another day - arty, I told you... I'm just watching my other group of friends Whatsapps pass by, one may book a last minute break and others chat about fretting about packing the right things... I only fret about the stuff I plan so I don't bother planning, it'll be fine If I contact my travelling friend it's always quite wonderful - she's Greek and grew up in Melbourne but has married an English Gentleman (an actual one - famous ancestors and dapper) they are both amazing. I shared a bit of my poetry and she raved about it then told me a bit about the famous published poets on her husband's side - I looked them up and it's pretty wow. All my ancestors are just poor people who did their best, trapped in the grip of poverty and a terrible class system. My friends husband's benefited hugely from being society darlings - if they were as nice as my friends husband they probably deserved it I suppose I'm not sure if I'm all that spontaneous now, I often decide where I'm going after I've set off and I rarely plan my outfits even if I have 15 minutes to get home and leave the house again - I am rock n roll! I was told the other day my rucksack was borderline too big for the venue and I should check it in, I didn't bother as I thought borderline means debatable and I'll debate it should anyone else care enough to mention it I spent 4 years of university making up stories about how cornflakes were enlightened and knew answers if only we could tap into the knowledge - just with one friend, it's not the kind of nonsense you share. It was a joke but somehow if in a fix we could ponder what an enlightened cornflake might offer up as a solution and we found they were surprisingly good at thinking outside the box (I may send her that joke - 4 years and I don't think we said it... We were students, the cornflakes challenged paradigms etcetera etcetera). This is the longest piece of nonsense I've ever written down... I'll go now, I'm desperate to tell my friend about the cornflake box thing.
