Poem
It was a life time ago,                                                    or maybe two lives ago.                                                Every Saturday or so,                                                    I went skating at a roller rink.                                        Going around and round,                                                on that old wooden rink floor.                          Our skates seemed to just hum,                       as we talked and laughed.                                              One day this boy a couple of years older,        ask to hold my hand.                                                    I said yes,                                                                    our skates took off in flames.                                          Every Saturday after that,                                              we skated the hours away.                                            One day he asked for my for phone number,              I gave it to him.                                                            Now we could talk during the week,                                what a thrill that was.                                                  It all ended the day we moved,                                        no more Saturday skating for us.                                    Ten years later,                                                              I read he had made a movie,                                          I tracked down his phone number.                                    When I called the phone number,                                    to my shock he answered.                                              Do you remember the eight year old,                              the girl you skated with every Saturday.                         Yes oh yes,                                                                    came back to me.                                                          We wished each other well,                                              knowing our lives had changed.                                    The old wooden rink floor may have been the same, but we had grown and changed.                                      We were not the same kids skating round and round,       we would be lost forever.
